A Lightshot alternative that uploads to your own storage

Lightshot is a free screenshot tool for Windows and Mac that uploads to its own site, where its privacy policy says every image is public. VizShot uploads to your own storage instead, under a long random name, and is the same app on a Mac and a PC.

What using VizShot is like

  • One shortcut, one drag

Press ⌘⇧2 or Ctrl+Shift+2 and drag. The picture is copied and saved, and a small card offers Edit and Get link.

  • A clean editor

Thirteen tools with one key each, and nothing on screen you do not need. The picture stays in front.

  • Storage in five fields

Paste your bucket’s details once and press Test connection. After that a link is one click.

  • Nothing to sign up for

No account and no sign-in. Install it and start.

Where VizShot is better

  • Uploads go to storage you own

VizShot sends the picture straight from your computer to your own bucket. It never passes through our servers.

  • A name nobody can guess

Every upload gets a random 32-character name, on your own web address if you like.

  • You can take a link down yourself

The file is in your bucket. Delete it there and the link stops working.

  • A solid redact for anything private

Cover a password or a number with a solid block before you share. Once you save, nothing under it can be recovered.

Your own storage

Captures go straight from your computer to storage you pay for. Nothing passes through us.

Questions

Asked, and answered.

Is Lightshot safe?

For private screenshots, read its privacy policy first. It says every image uploaded to its site is public and can be viewed by anyone who types its address, and that the site is for sharing images, not for keeping them secure.

Can I remove a screenshot I uploaded to Lightshot by mistake?

Lightshot’s FAQ says to write to its support, or to press the abuse button under the image. With VizShot the file is in your own bucket, so you delete it yourself.

Where do VizShot uploads go?

To your own Cloudflare R2, Amazon S3 or Backblaze B2 bucket, straight from your computer, under a random 32-character name. Anyone you give the link to can open it, and nobody can guess it.

Is VizShot free like Lightshot?

Lightshot is free. VizShot is $8 once, after 14 days with every feature and no account to make. You pay your storage provider for the bucket, which for screenshots is usually small.

Does VizShot work on Mac and Windows?

Yes. It is the same app on both, and one key covers two computers in any mix.
