Side by side, row by row.
A tick marks the stronger side.
What using VizShot is like
The move you already know
Press ⌘⇧2 and drag a box, the way you press Windows+Shift+S on a PC. The picture is copied and saved.
At home on a Mac
It lives in the menu bar, with no window to keep open. A small card shows each capture, with Edit and Get link on it.
A clean editor
Thirteen tools with one key each, and nothing on screen you do not need. The picture stays in front.
Nothing to sign up for
No account and no sign-in. Install it and start.
Where VizShot is better
It runs on your Mac
Snipping Tool is part of Windows. VizShot is the same app, with the same shortcuts, on a Mac and a PC.
More to mark up with
Arrows, text, numbered steps and a spotlight, plus a solid redact block for anything private.
A link, not a file
One click uploads the picture to your own Cloudflare R2, Amazon S3 or Backblaze B2 bucket and copies the link. Paste it anywhere.
A backdrop in one click
Put the picture on a colour, a gradient or your own picture before you share it.
One app on your Mac and your PC.
The same capture card and the same keys on both. One key covers two computers.
Who VizShot is for
- You moved from a PC to a Mac and miss pressing one shortcut and dragging a box.
- You use a PC at work and a Mac at home, and want one app and one set of shortcuts.
- You want to mark a screenshot up and send a link, not attach a file.
Three steps, about five minutes.
- 01
Install VizShot on your Mac
Download it, drag it to Applications, and allow screen recording when macOS asks. There is no account to make.
- 02
Press the shortcut
⌘⇧2 on a Mac, Ctrl+Shift+2 on Windows. Drag, and the picture is copied and saved.
- 03
Mark it up or share a link
Edit on the card opens the picture to draw on. Add your storage once, and Get link copies a link to it.
Asked, and answered.
Is there a Snipping Tool for Mac?
No. Snipping Tool is built into Windows, and Microsoft’s own pages about it offer no version for a Mac. VizShot is a separate app by a different developer.
Does a Mac have a snipping tool of its own?
Yes. A Mac has screenshot shortcuts built in: press Shift-Command-4 and drag to capture an area, or Shift-Command-5 to open the Screenshot app. VizShot adds an editor with thirteen tools, backdrops and a link to share.
What is the Mac shortcut for Windows+Shift+S?
On a Mac itself it is Shift-Command-4: press it and drag. With VizShot it is ⌘⇧2, and the picture is copied and saved the same way, with a small card that opens the editor or copies a link.
Can I use VizShot on Windows as well as Snipping Tool?
Yes. VizShot is in the Microsoft Store, and its shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+2, so Windows+Shift+S keeps opening Snipping Tool.
Is VizShot free like Snipping Tool?
Snipping Tool is free with Windows. VizShot is $8 once, after 14 days with every feature and no account to make.
