Capture a menu with a timer
Start a countdown, open the menu you want, and VizShot captures it when the time is up.
Menus and tooltips vanish the moment you press a shortcut. A timed capture solves that by waiting first.
| Mac | Windows | |
|---|---|---|
| Capture with a timer | ⌘ ⇧ 8 | Ctrl Shift 8 |
Press the shortcut (or choose More › After a Delay… in the VizShot menu). A countdown card appears at the bottom of your screen: "Capturing in 5", with a ring that drains.
Open the menu, hover the tooltip, or set up whatever you want to capture. The card never takes focus, so your menu stays open.
When the countdown ends, the screen freezes just as it is, the usual overlay appears, and you drag over what you want.
The countdown card is never in the picture. On a Mac, the countdown also shows beside VizShot's mark in the menu bar.
Change the wait#
The default is 5 seconds. Open Settings › Capture and change Seconds before a timed capture, anywhere from 1 to 60.
Cancel#
Press Esc during the countdown. Nothing is captured.
