What "Help improve VizShot" shares

An optional switch, off until you say yes. It shares a few simple numbers that help make VizShot better, and never your screenshots.

It's off unless you turn it on. VizShot asks once, and you can change your mind any time in Settings. Nothing in VizShot depends on it: every feature works the same either way.

Why it's there#

One person makes VizShot. A few simple numbers show which parts people use and on which systems, and a short note after a crash shows where to look, often before anyone has to write in. That's all it's for.

Exactly what is shared#

WhenWhat goes
Once a dayHow many times each thing was used that day: captures of an area and of the whole screen, recordings, uploads that worked and uploads that didn't, and problems by kind (an upload timing out, the disk being full). With it: the VizShot version, your system's version, and Mac or PC
If VizShot crashesWhere it crashed inside VizShot (the spot in its own code) and the error's words. Nothing from your screen or your files

Both carry a random ID that VizShot makes for this and nothing else. It isn't the ID your key uses, and we can't connect it to your key, your account or your email. Turn the switch off and the ID is thrown away; turn it on again and you get a new one.

What is never shared#

Your screenshots and recordings, file names, folders, links, your storage settings, or VizShot's log. If you'd like us to see the log, that's a separate thing you choose to do yourself: send feedback.

Turn it on or off#

  1. Open Settings and choose General in the sidebar.

  2. Under Privacy, switch Help improve VizShot on or off.

  3. Press Save.

We keep the counts and crash notes for 180 days, then delete them. The rest of what VizShot sends is in what VizShot sends, and the full detail is in the privacy policy.
