Your screenshots and recordings never come to us. They stay on your computer, unless you choose to upload one to your own storage.

What VizShot sends to us#

WhenWhat goes
Activating a key, and about once a day afterThe key, a random ID made for this computer, a scrambled fingerprint of the computer that can't be turned back into anything, "Mac" or "PC", and the VizShot version. It's how we count the computers on a key
Checking for updates (website download only), about once a dayThe platform, the processor type, the VizShot version, and the same random ID, so that a release can reach a share of people at a time
When you press Send in Send feedback, and only thenWhat you wrote, your email if you gave one, the VizShot version, your system's version, the sizes of your screens, and the end of VizShot's log unless you untick it. See send feedback
If you turn on Help improve VizShot (it's off until you say yes)Once a day, a few simple numbers about what you used; after a crash, where it crashed. See exactly what is shared

That's all it sends. There are no ads, and nothing is sold or shared.

What VizShot never sends#

Your captures, folders, upload links, storage keys or anything you've drawn. Never. The log in a problem report can name capture files; nothing else does.

Uploads#

If you turn on share links, a picture goes straight from your computer to your own bucket, signed with your own key. Nothing passes through our servers.

Permissions VizShot asks for#

  • Screen recording (Mac), so it can capture, only when you ask.

  • Microphone, only if you switch it on, and only while recording. Your system asks you first, on a Mac and on Windows.

Offline#

VizShot works without the internet. You only need it to activate a key, to check for updates, to upload, and to send feedback. With Help improve VizShot on, a day's count waits until you're online.
