What Test connection tells you

Test connection uploads a tiny picture, deletes it, and tells you whether your setup works.

In Settings › Storage, Test connection checks your setup before a real capture depends on it.

It uploads a 1 × 1 pixel transparent picture to your bucket, in a folder called vizshot-connection-test, and then deletes it. It never touches your other files. When it's done, the button says Test again.

The test uses what's in the form right now, so you can try a setup before you save it. If you've saved a secret key before, you don't need to paste it again.

"Upload failed (301)" or similar#

This means the provider told VizShot to go somewhere else. With Amazon S3 and Backblaze B2, it almost always means the Region doesn't match the bucket's. VizShot won't follow the redirect, on purpose, because that would send your signed request to a place you didn't choose. Fix the region and test again. Other numbers, like 400 or 500, include the start of the provider's own reply, which usually says what's wrong.

Messages under the fields#

If a field is empty or looks wrong, VizShot tells you under the field, before it tries anything:

You seeWhat to do
"Add your account ID" (R2) or "Add the region, like us-east-1" (S3, B2)That field is empty
"Add the bucket name"Type your bucket's name
"Add your access key ID" or "Paste the secret key"Both parts of the key are needed
"That doesn't look like an account ID" or "…a region" or "…an access key ID"Check you copied the whole thing, with no spaces or slashes
"Bucket names use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens"A bucket name is 3 to 63 characters, with no spaces or slashes
"The link address has to start with https://"Use a full https:// address. Plain http:// isn't accepted
"The link address can't have a ? or # in it"Use the plain address, with no extras on the end
"Add a link address so there is a link to copy."You switched on automatic uploads, which need a link address

The footer of the window tells you how many fields to fix, like "Fix 2 fields to save".
