Set up Cloudflare R2
Make a bucket, make an access key, and paste five things into Settings. About ten minutes.
On this page
You'll need a free Cloudflare account. Cloudflare changes its labels now and then, so the names below are what to look for, and Cloudflare's own R2 guide has the latest.
1. Make a bucket#
In the Cloudflare dashboard, open R2 object storage and press Create bucket.
Give it a name with lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, like
my-shots. The automatic location is fine.
2. Make it readable by link#
Share links only work if people can open the files. In your bucket's Settings, find Public access, and choose one:
Connect your own domain, so links look like
https://shots.yourname.com/…. This is the nicest option, and it's covered in put links on your own address.Turn on the r2.dev address. Cloudflare gives your bucket a public address like
https://pub-….r2.dev. It's quick, and fine for trying things out. Cloudflare limits it, and says it's not meant for heavy use.
Copy the address. It's your link address.
3. Make an access key#
On the R2 overview page, open Manage API tokens and create a new token.
For the permission, choose Object Read & Write, and limit it to your bucket.
Create it. Cloudflare shows an Access Key ID and a Secret Access Key. Copy both now.
4. Find your Account ID#
It's on the R2 overview page, in the account details. It's 32 letters and numbers.
5. Tell VizShot#
Open Settings › Storage and pick Cloudflare R2.
Fill in Account ID, Bucket, Access key ID, Secret key and Link address. The link address has to start with
https://.Press Test connection. You should see a green Connected, with a sample of what your links will look like. If not, see what Test connection tells you.
Press Save. The R2 tile says In use.
Now press Get link on any capture's card to get a share link. Want it to happen by itself? Switch on upload after every capture.
