Let VizShot see your screen

macOS asks you to switch VizShot on once, then reopen it. Here is exactly what to press.

GuideMac onlyUpdated 3 Oct 2026

macOS doesn't let any app see your screen until you say so. That's a good thing, and it's a one-time job for VizShot. Nothing leaves your computer because of it.

  1. In the welcome window, press Open System Settings. (You can also open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording yourself.)

  2. Find VizShot in the list and switch it on. macOS may show its own question first. Say yes.

  3. macOS then says VizShot needs to reopen. Press Reopen VizShot in the welcome window, or take macOS's own Quit & Reopen.

  4. VizShot opens again and carries on from where the welcome window left off.

Why does it have to reopen?#

macOS only lets an app see the screen after it starts again. It's a macOS rule, not something VizShot can skip.

If you said no, or skipped it#

Open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen & System Audio Recording, switch VizShot on, then quit and reopen VizShot from the menu bar.

If VizShot is already in the list but switched on and still can't capture, see VizShot says it can't see your screen.
