Where VizShot keeps its files
Captures in Pictures, settings in the app folder, secret keys in the Keychain, and a log for support.
On this page
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| Your captures | Pictures/VizShot, or the folder you chose in Settings › Capture. Recordings go in the same folder |
| Settings | A file called settings.json in VizShot's own data folder. On a Mac that's inside ~/Library/Application Support/com.neelgajjar.vizshot. On Windows, inside %APPDATA%\com.neelgajjar.vizshot |
| Your storage secret key and license key | The Mac Keychain, or the Windows Credential Manager. Never in a file |
| The log | On a Mac, ~/Library/Logs/VizShot/vizshot.log. On Windows, %LOCALAPPDATA%\VizShot\logs\vizshot.log. Settings › Log file opens it |
The log#
The log is a plain text file that records what VizShot did, like "auto-upload failed". It never contains your pictures, your keys or your file names. If you write to support about a problem, the last lines can help us a lot. Open it with Log file at the bottom of Settings.
Start fresh#
Quit VizShot, and move settings.json somewhere else. VizShot starts again with the defaults. Your captures aren't touched, and your key stays in the Keychain. If VizShot ever finds that its settings file can't be read, it uses the defaults and tells you, and keeps a backup beside it.
Uninstalling#
Removing VizShot doesn't delete your captures. To remove your license from a computer first, press Deactivate in Settings › License, so the place is free for another computer.
