VizShot Get a free key

A shortcut does nothing

Usually another app is holding the keys. Check VizShot is running, then pick a different combination.

Go down this list. The first one that fits is usually the answer.

  1. Is VizShot running? Look for its icon in the menu bar (Windows: the tray, which may be tucked under the ^ arrow). If it isn't there, open VizShot again.

  2. Did VizShot tell you another app has the shortcut? At launch, if something else is using a combination, VizShot says so: "Another app is using Ctrl+Shift+2, so it does nothing right now. Choose another combination in Settings." That other app might be another screenshot tool, a clipboard manager, or a screen recorder.

  3. Does another tool open at the same time? If one press brings up VizShot and another screenshot app together, both are listening for the same keys. VizShot can't tell, because some apps listen without claiming the shortcut. Change it in one of the two.

  4. Pick a different combination. Open Settings › Shortcuts, click the one that isn't working, press new keys, then Save. See change a shortcut.

  5. Did your shortcuts get reset? If VizShot couldn't read your saved shortcuts, it says "Your saved shortcuts couldn't be used, so VizShot went back to the standard ones." Check them in Settings › Shortcuts.

  6. Does it work from the menu? The VizShot menu has every action. If a menu item works and the keys don't, it's the keys, and the steps above are what to try. If the menu fails too, see VizShot says it can't see your screen.

Keys VizShot won't take#

On a Mac, ⌘ ⇧ 3, 4, 5 and 6 belong to macOS, and ⌘ Space belongs to Spotlight, so VizShot won't let you choose them. On Windows, shortcuts using the Windows key belong to Windows.
